Child surgery

For this project we had to design a new methode for treating a inguinal hernia.

Team-members: Aya Yacoub, Marouane Kaddouri, Mohamed-Amine El Bouazzati and Rehan Muhammad

Below you will find the project (in Dutch).

Deliverable 1: the report

The client expects a report about child inguinal hernia to prove that we have done our research about what it is and how it is treated now.

Deliverable 2: the infographic

The client expects a infographic with a few examples to close a hole (surgeracly).

Deliverable 3: the program of requirements

The client expects a program of requirements that the new methode of closing a inguinal canal must comply.

We got to skip this step of our coach.

Deliverable 4: Go/No Go

The client expects three possible ideas for treating a inguinal hernia canal that also comply by the PoR of the previous deliverable.

We came up with the next three ideas:

  1. Closing the hole by using a piece of tissue of the intestines.
  2. Helping closing the hole itself by placing a temporary "sticker".
  3. Organic material that is safe to use to close the hole, but the organic material is not taken from the patient themself.

Chosen idea: the temporary sticker

Deliverable 5: the 3D-model

The client expects a 3D-model on which the new methode of treating a inguinal hernia surgery can be trained on. It must be clear where the inguinal canal is and what hole must be closed.

I lost the picture of our 3D-model as it is years ago I did this project and currently work on a new device.

Completion of project child surgery

The client expects a youtube video where is demostrated how the model of the new methode works.

In this video my team and I presented our final product, however we were kids at the time and for safety reasons I have taken the video down.
